Colorado State Laws
Persons under age 18 must hold an instruction permit for at least six months and be 16 years old before they are eligible to take a driving test. Minors are given credit for any time they held a permit in this or any other state if they show the permit documentation.
Effective July 1, 1999, any minor getting an instruction permit on or after July 1, 1999 must also submit a written log showing at least 50 hours of drive time experience at the time they apply for their driver license. Ten of those 50 hours must have been driven at night.
